My name is Paul Sandwell. I am an IDTA qualified dance teacher, choreographer and fitness instructor. I have been dancing for over thirty years. I was inspired to to attend disco dance classes when very young and from that I discovered many new dance styles such as street dance, contemporary, jazz, ballroom, flamenco and ballet. I have performed on stage, using styles such as musical theatre and flamenco. I was a competition disco dancer when very young winning a number of competitions such as the South East England dance championships. I demonstrated dancing in schools when in my twenties and I have taught adults, children and people with learning difficulties and special needs to dance.
More recently I have taught the Women's Institute at Barnes, National Trust volunteers at Morden Hall Park, have given classes for hen parties and acted as a cover teacher in various community centres. In December 2017 I worked in a professional Flamenco show dancing Seviannas. I have also performed various theatre choreographies in regional dance shows. I performed in the 2012 Cultural Olympiad at Chrystal Palace Bowl. I have also performed at Wimbledon Synagogue as part of 2011 Japan Disaster Appeal, as well as The Colour Theatre and Bethnal Green Arena.
I think that everybody should have the opportunity to learn to dance. It is a wonderful experience and whether people are beginners or more advanced I would love the opportunity to teach them. I believe that everyone can learn to dance and I hope that my classes give them the opportunity to discover this is true.
I have worked for the BBC World Service and for Eurofins International. I was a freelance writer for many years for What's On (West Midlands) and other publications. I have an MA in Politics from Warwick University and an MSc in I.T. from Kingston University as well as a BA(Hons) in history/environmental studies from London University.
